Reaching Energy Efficiency in Millions of Residential Buildings in the Baltic Sea Region

reaching energy efficiency in millions of residential buildings in the baltic sea region

The RenoWave project will organize a panel discussion at the upcoming European Union Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) Annual Forum in Visby, Sweden. The event, held from 29 to 31 October 2024, brings together leaders and experts from across the Baltic region to address sustainability, resilience, and security. RenoWave’s dedicated panel discussion will be held on 30 October and will focus on the topic: “Reaching Energy Efficiency in Millions of Residential Buildings in the Baltic Sea Region.”

The RenoWave project addresses the many challenges homeowners face when undertaking renovations of multi-apartment buildings, including complex planning, financing, and implementation. The session will begin with a brief introduction to the new Energy Performance Building Directive, followed by a panel discussion on its implementation. As part of the discussion, we will explore necessary measures to accelerate renovation rates and the significance of one-stop-shop solutions and enhanced energy performance certificates in achieving higher energy efficiency. The panel will also reflect on the unique circumstances of multi-apartment buildings in the BSR. After the panel discussion, a workshop will take place among participants, providing an opportunity for hands-on engagement and discussion. The target group for this session, homeowners, will be represented by participants in the workshop.

Panel Overview:

  • Date: 30 October 2024
  • Location: EUSBSR Annual Forum, Visby, Sweden
  • Discussion Focus: “Reaching Energy Efficiency in Millions of Residential Buildings in the BSR”
  • Participants: Experts from the RenoWave project and other regional stakeholders

The EUSBSR Annual Forum, organized this year by the Swedish Government in collaboration with the Nordic Council of Ministers, expects to welcome 650 participants from over 20 countries.

The EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region is an agreement between the European Commission and the eight EU member states bordering the Baltic Sea. Today, societal challenges are more complex than ever and call for more targeted solutions. These solutions are often difficult to implement solely on a local, regional or even national level. That is where the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region comes in, as it offers cross-sectorial, multilevel and international collaboration. This allows us to build closer collaborative practices in Europe, helping us make better use of our combined resources.
