Woodenergy & Cleantech (Woodenergy)

  • woodenergy cleantech woodenergy

The importance of wood energy in every person’s daily life is increasing. More and more municipal institutions and private houses are heated with wood or forest biomass. In Vidzeme, the use of timber in centralized heat supply occupies an important place. However, issues regarding developing technologies in heat production to increase their efficiency still need to be addressed. It is important to continue to talk about wood energy at all levels of society, as well as to remind about its benefits and opportunities for obtaining environmentally friendly thermal energy. Forests are one of the greatest assets of the Vidzeme region – 52% of the territory is occupied by forest lands, which are renewed and expanded every year. Each part of the tree must be used suitably and thoughtfully to bring economic and ecological benefits to its region, providing itself with heat from the resources available in our region. The Vidzeme planning region, with the support of the “Woodenergy” project, has started a discussion about wood energy and its possibilities at several levels – among policymakers, forest owners, representatives of municipalities, as well as teachers, students, and their parents.
