Waterways Forward (WF)

Vidzeme Planning Region is rich in waterways – rivers and lakes. It is important to properly and thoughtfully care for it, as well as to look for ways to use the waterway efficiently. If rivers and their banks are not properly managed or are neglected, they lose both their biological value and their economic potential. Everyone should take care of the maintenance of waterways, that is why Vidzeme Planning Region organizes free trainings for municipal planning specialists and practical seminars for river owners and friends of nature as part of the “Waterways Forwardt” project. During training together with water and planning specialists, participants understand how to properly take care of rivers and how they would help the growth of the municipality.
