Geomatics Rural Information Society Initiative PLUS (GRISI PLUS)

Vidzeme is the largest region of Latvia in terms of territory, but the smallest in terms of population. 58% of Vidzeme residents live in rural regions. Depopulation and aging are a significant obstacles to the development of rural areas. In order to promote the development of rural regions, it is essential to take care of the attractiveness of the territory and the recognition of local products. How to achieve this? It is necessary to use new solutions. One of them is geomatics – a branch of science based on the acquisition, processing and use of geographical information. With the help of interactive maps and various spatial development documents, residents can find out diverse and useful information, for example, how far from the settlement is a kindergarten and where to buy eco products produced in Vidzeme.
