Developing Senior Tourism in Remote Regions (TOURAGE)

Over the last 15 years, the number of people aged 65 and older in Europe has increased by more than 25 million. An increasing number of seniors living in Europe spend their retirement traveling, not only within their home regions but also visiting foreign countries. Most international tourists have recognized Riga as the most popular destination in Latvia. To foster senior tourism development in Vidzeme, the Vidzeme Planning Region has joined the project “Development of Senior Tourism in Remote Regions.” This initiative aims not only to enhance the quality of life for older adults but also to provide opportunities for the development of remote regions.
