local transition arena workshops focus on healthy living in the bioregion vidzeme video

In the spring of 2024, the local transition arena workshops titled “What Will We Bring to the Table?” were held in Cēsis, Latvia, marking a significant step forward in the establishment of a bioregion within the Gauja National Park. This initiative aims to enhance the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and increase the consumption of organic food, especially in public institutions.

Bringing together representatives from various organizations and sectors, the workshops utilized the innovative “transition arena” method to foster broad community engagement and facilitate knowledge sharing. Participants actively addressed specific challenges while collaboratively developing a vision for promoting healthier living in the region.

These workshops were organized by the Vidzeme Planning Region and the Cēsis Municipality as part of the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme 2021-2027 project titled “Towards a Sustainable and Resilient Society, Strengthening Civic Participation and Innovation (We Make Transition!).” Additionally, the initiative is supported by the European Commission-funded project “EUROPE DIRECT Vidzeme” and the project “Supporting Environment for Sustainable Food Systems (KISMET).”

The insights gained from these workshops are expected to play a crucial role in the region’s future efforts to cultivate a sustainable, health-focused community.
