Hackathon “The Ripple Effect: Accessibility Innovations in Water Tourism” – this week!

hackathon the ripple effect accessibility innovations in water tourism this week

On Thursday, February 27, more than 70 representatives from various industries will gather in Valmiera to participate in an exciting two-day hackathon, “The Ripple Effect: Accessibility Innovations in Water Tourism”.

The hackathon will take place as part of the Vidzeme Innovation Week; this year’s theme is “Dare”. Hackathon participants will also dare to think outside the box and stereotypes, looking for new solutions and opportunities to adapt water tourism services and routes to wider groups of people, especially considering seniors, people with disabilities and families with children.

Hackathon participants will work in teams, working on advancing and testing ideas so that on the second day of the event, each will present their most successful idea with the best implementation potential. The teams will compete for the main prize – an experience exchange trip to Finland.

The Vidzeme Planning Region organizes the innovation hackathon in cooperation with the Kurzeme Planning Region and the Pärnu College of the University of Tartu within the framework of the Interreg Estonia-Latvia Programme 2021 – 2027 project “Facilitating access to watertourism activities” (Riverways II).

In parallel with the teamwork during the hackathon, a meeting of the Riverways II project partners will also take place, during which the parties involved in the project will look back on the achievements of the first period of the project and outline the work to be done for the next phase of the project implementation.
