Project objectives
To enhance sustainable management of common groundwater resources and associated ecosystems in the transboundary Gauja - Koiva river basin.Activities
- Identification and exchange of data necessary for project implementation.
- Development of a joint methodology and its implementation in Gauja - Koiva river basin.
- Pilot studies and development of conceptual models (research object - spring mires and spring complex).
- Recommendations for better management of transboundary Gauja - Koiva river basin and project result dissemination.
Results
- Joint methodology for GDE identification and assessment.
- Implementation of methodology and verification in pilot areas in close cooperation between Estonian and Latvian authorities and research institutions.
- Increased public awareness of groundwater and associated nature protection.

Total budget of the project: 411 764,72 EUR
- including ERDF co-financing: 350 000.00 EUR
VPR budget: 37 647.06 EUR
- including ERDF co-financing: 32 000.00 EUR
